*As the titular protagonist, it may seem troubling that this bibliography is not the longest on the character selections. However, this by no means proves that Buffy scholars have been neglectful of Buffy Summers as an intellectual subject of study - protagonists of ensemble works tend to be exominated into the thought culture of their own text. Exploration of other characters and disciplines almost always interweave with the slayer's arc in their own way.
